I have been teaching, writing and working in agriculture in the San Joaquin Valley for almost 20 years.
I've taught in all types of educational settings (elementary, high school and college; private and public; special ed and advanced) and various capacities (research, quality control, marketing) in the ag industry.
I'm especially interested in the development of agri-tourism in the valley and the renewed vigor for history and redeveloping downtowns in small towns.
Also, the broad spectrum of social classes in the valley intrigues me. We have been given the distinction of one of the poorest areas in the nation, but we also have some serious wealth in the midst of it.
